Race as Class: Magical Classes



Here are the magic using classes, MU and Cleric.

Fighting Classes here, Skilled Classes here

Magic User
Description: Human spellcasters
Size: 5
Speed: 30'
HD: D4
Bonuses/Penalties: Roll two Lvl 1 & one Lvl 2 spells at creation. Can roll an extra Lvl 1 spell per bonus point of Int
Simple weapons only
1 handed melee weapons only
Can't wear armour and cast spells

Notes: Nothing surprising here. The biggest change is to the actual spell lists, I've cut out and combined a few of the spells to give them more utility, as well as adding a few random ones from here and there. The weapon lists allow more choice for the MU including crossbows, so with a pair of crossbows and a lackey to reload they can actually make themselves useful. I'm also using Gus L's spellbook table for some delicious flavour.

Cleric
Description: Human priests that are granted magical powers by their god
Size: 5
Speed: 30'
HD: D6
Bonuses/Penalties: Roll two Lvl 1 spells at creation, gain two when they access a new spell level. Roll an extra spell per level per bonus point of Wis
Must choose or create a god
Simple weapons only
Can use up to Medium armour and shields without penalty

Notes: Not many changes. The biggest is probably the HD, I wanted Clerics to be less of a second rate fighter, that's what the Dwarfs and the Orcs are for. Again the biggest change is the spell lists, the basic list is much reduced with different gods providing access to different spells, see my posts on the gods of Ionia for more info.
